Mahant Transportation, LLC is a family-owned company founded in Indianapolis, IN in May 2015 by two brothers, Sid and Yogi Mahant. Starting with only one truck, they quickly grew to six trucks by the end of that year. In conjunction with the growing trucking business, Sid and Yogi also opened up a repair shop. Sid and his wife Neelam focused on growing the trucking side of the business as Yogi simultaneously grew the repair shop. The ability to keep most maintenance cost in house and the added revenue from outside repairs proved to be a successful formula. Yogi quickly began to be known as the “Truck Whisperer” locally and Mahant Transportation grew to 80 trucks by the end of 2022.
History
2018 was a pivotal year for the company. As the fleet continued to grow to 40+ trucks, the company began expanding as well. In order to keep pace, the dispatch department tripled in size, accounting doubled, driver managers were hired, and the safety and maintenance departments were bolstered as well. In December 2018, the company opened a new facility in Avon, IN. Doubling yard and shop capacity, the new location also gives the company a competitive advantage in terms of customer service. Many of the shippers and receivers we work with on a daily basis are within a 5 mile radius of the new facility, giving us much more flexibility in terms of responsiveness and being able to better serve our customer’s unique needs.
Operations:
With nearly 50 trucks, the growth plan is in full effect for 2019. Currently we offer FTL services for reefer and dry van freight locally and over the road. Our trailer pool and new yard gives us the ability to provide drop trailer services as well as the ability to hold freight securely. Our main areas of operation are the Midwest, Great Plains, Mid South, Southeast, Mid Atlantic, and Northeast. As we continue to grow, implement new technology, and refine our internal systems and processes, we plan on expanding more and more into the Western 11 as well.
